Frost wins Challenge Tour Merit Table

COLIN FOWLER and Matt Clark claimed victory in the year’s final two PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour events, but Mark Frost and Alan Tabern were left celebrating winning PDC Tour Cards by topping the Order of Merit.

Fowler followed up his April double-header of triumphs by claiming victory in Event 15, with the £2,000 prize money putting him within touching distance of the top two in the rankings going into the final event. Fowler defeated David Copley, Matthew Dicken, Tony Richardson and Matt Clark to reach the quarter-finals, before seeing off John Burgess 5-1. He then overcame Wayne Pepper 5-3 in the semis, before completing his 2014 hat-trick of victories by dropping only one leg against Dutch youngster Dirk van Duijvenbode in the final.

Van Duijvenbode’s success earned him £1,000 in prize money, as he whitewashed Barry Tyler in his opening game and then defeated Scott Mackenzie, Mark Forman, Paul Rowley, Mark Jones and Jay Foreman. Steve Douglas, the Event 14 runner-up to Mark Frost in September, was amongst the quarter-final losers alongside Jones, Burgess and Barry Lynn.
