Local Shrewsbury company sponsor ‘Grand Slam of Darts’ debutant
The £400,000 PDC Grand Slam of Darts commences on Saturday 9th November from the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, and although Dutch darts legend ‘Raymond van Barnaveld’ is the defending champion it is current World Champion and last week’s Masters Champion ‘Phil Taylor’ who will be the tournament favourite.
Taylor a former winner is joined by 32 players from both Darts organisations in this unique 8 day event which also features PDC Challenge Tour winner ‘Ross Smith’ who is making his debut.
Smith, one of the emerging young talents in the game has received a massive boost in the build up to the event with backing from Shrewsbury company ‘Darwin Glass & Glazing’. PDPA chief executive Alan Warriner said ‘ It’s always good to get local companies to get involved in our great sport, especially in the future stars of our game ‘

Smith has been drawn with former European Champion ‘Simon Whitlock on Saturday with former Lakeside Champion Mark Webster & Premier League player Wes Newton also in his group.
